About the Diamond Firetail
Having the most colourful plumage of all finches makes the diamond firetail a true beauty. The bird is native to southeastern Australia and thrives in open grassy woodlands, moors and arable land.
During the mating display, the male flies over to the female with a piece of grass in his beak. He then bounces up and down, and as she approaches, he turns his neck and opens his mouth like a chick begging for food.
